Under the leading of Xiang Zhou’s borough committee and government these years, Xiang Zhou implements the “ being developed by science and education” strategy generally, therefore its science enterprise has been developed so rapidly and generally recently. The district was awarded “the advanced city zone and the advanced unit for propagandizing science dissemination of Guang Dong province’s science innovation” in 2000, and passed the asses for “the nationally advanced science city” of the nationally technological ministry, which means it has been one of the advanced city zones for nationally technological works. Due to their efforts of pushing the works of technological improvement these years, the leaders of Xixnagzhou’s government have been commended and affirmed by the Guangdong province’s party committee and government.
   
The increasing growing of high-tech industry has become the main increasing resource for the district’s economy.  
    The development of  technology and science has pushed the way of economic growing from quantity to quality, especially the rapid growing of high-tech industry. During recent 5 years, the production value of our high-tech industry has increased from 3 billion to 5.4 billion RMB, and the yearly increase is over average 15 percent, making it the most vivacious part of this district ‘s economy development. Currently there are 46 enterprises belonging to productive and technological type, including 7 great-medium-size enterprises, and 41 which yearly sales revenue is over 5 million RMB. The production value of the whole district’s high-tech products was 5.45 billion in 2002, 26.53 percent accounting for the total industry production value of the whole district. Among all these technological enterprises, there are 23 which yearly production value is more than 50 million Yuan, and 15 more than 100 million Yuan. The added-value for the district’s high-tech products is 1.22 billion in 2002, 26.92 percent of the district’s total industry added-value. The total export value for the high tech products was 2.15 billion Yuan, 21.35 percent of the district’s total export value. The products covers many professional fields, including electronical information, biology, new material, and the oneness turn of light-mechanism-electricity, etc.

Well known High-tech enterprises and name brands in and out of country　
     Investigations   indicate that within the district t some 46 enterprises are engaged in developing high-tech products, some of which are internationally famous, such as Dongxin Peace Intelligence Cards, Zhongfu, Weier, Dehao Run da. Yi Duo Li, etc. Besides, there are also 12 “first-class high-tech enterprises ” affirmed by Guangdong Provincial Technology bureau.

Enterprise-oriented system for technology developing is coming into being
    In recent years, enterprises in Xiangzhou has established cooperative relationship with 20 domestic colleges to run the combination of producing, study and research, among which 11 have set up institutions for scientific research and development.5 enterprises, with science and technology research centers at national or provincial level, have succeeded in obtaining approximately 1000 patents for their items.

Enterprise devotion oriented with government leading system for investment and finance is coming into being.
    Three items of outlay for science and technology have been included into  the district’s annual financial budget, and the outlay will be greatly increased year after year, achieving 15.35 million for 2002 from 700 thousands Yuan for 1998.

A new breakthrough has been acquired for information development
    Great developments have been acquired in   the areas such as office automation, government’s web site, and political application. For example, building the uniform platform for the public network of government, and the supporting platform for exchanging the information of electronical government affair, realizes the inter-communication for 3-level networks of district, town and local committee. The application of information technology expands to more and more departments of government, which improves working efficiency. e.g. the uniform “OA” office automation system applied for the whole district; the "administrative system for bearing-age women” of the district’s family-planning bureau; the three-level information network covering with district, town (street) and local committee; the Stat-bureau’s ‘statistic report and deliver system’, which provides facilities with enterprise and fundamental departments due to its realization for data deliver 24-hour.

A new progress has been acquired for the working of scientific prevalence
    The works of science prevalence is an important part of science-tech undertakings. The district is gradually increasing its effort degrees for investing science prevalence. It has developed mass activity for science prevalence with multi-channel, multi-arrangement, and multi-form vigorously. As a result the people’s level for science and culture have been greatly improved.
