Xiangzhou District is the central urban area of Zhuhai city. It is located on the seacoast of the South China Sea and the west bank of the Pearl River estuary, with Hong Kong to its east across the sea gulf, Macao to its south. It is a city at the foot of the hill and by the side of the water with picturesque sceneries, romantic sentiments and worldwide reputation.
    With the development of the special economic zone in more than 20 years, the health and sanitation of Xiangzhou district has developed from little to great size, from weakness to mightiness, obtaining a dramatical performance. The six general hospitals and public health centers administered by the district, together with those Health stations and communities’ sanitation-service centers spreading all over the whole district, have formed a 3-level preventing and hygienical network with reasonable layout, complete functions and rapidly effective system. This effective network is providing high-quality, effective, low-cost and consecutive services of medical treatment and healthy care with more than 300,000 residents of the whole district. It is responsible for the healthy of the residents duteously, and ensuring the economic and social development of Xianzhou district.
    Under the correct leading of Xiangzhou’s party committee and district government, the board of health is gung-ho in executing the sanitation policy of the party and country confirmedly, and trying to quickening the construction of healthy undertakings for the whole district, to satisfy the people’s growing demands for their medicine treatments and healthy care. The board is also trying it best to improve the healthy conditions for the towns’ elementary sanitation, to make the district’s works for elementary sanitation achieve high level in the province. Therefore, Xiangzhou is awarded Advanced district in primary health care in Guangdong province in 2001.
    During recent years, the Xianhzou’s sanitation system is trying hard to push the sanitation reformation, and explore the reformation of function system for medical organization, which makes the system become the pioneer of Zhuhai’s reformation for medical organization. With the sanitation reformed more and more thoroughly, the construction of Xiangzhou’s community healthy service is being developed greatly.
